Dynamics 365 / Power Platform - Change root business unit name

There are times when you create a new DataVerse environment, the environment URL is not set correctly at creation time and you end up with a root business unit name such as "orgaa2e1efa".

Trying to change this business unit using the default forms will be blocked due to the parent business unit being mandatory.

There are usually multiple approaches to changing the root business name:

• Temporarily updating the business unit form to make parent business unit field not mandatory

• Exporting and reimporting business unit

• Using the new data editor (explained here)

Changing the Root Business Unit using the new data editor grid

1. The quickest new method we found was to go to make.powerapps.com

2. Find the business unit under the "Tables"

3. Change the name of the root business unit on the data table
